Footnotes from a Gay Sensibility

“6 Guys, 12 Feet” is the best fashion editorial I’ve seen in ages. Interview Magazine sent new sandals to six men, had them snap photos of their feet, and asked each a slight variation of the same set of questions. The results are part fashion shoot, part personality quiz, and part foot fetish.

Some people will be turned on by the hairy legs. Others may be repelled by the sight of men’s bare feet. But everyone can enjoy answers that show humor and a surprising amount of self-awareness.

Asked, “Where do you stand on foot pics?” writer Michael Quintanilla replies, Time and place. And for me, the time is not really ever and the place is nowhere.”

Gay men are so good at assignments like this. They dream them up, don’t take them too seriously, and make them fun for everyone. A gay sensibility leaves its mark on everything it touches—in this case, a footprint.
